Oh, hello friends. It has been ages since we last updated this blog, but let us tell you about some new shows…
Back in the spooky, spooky month of October, we launched A Part Of Our Scare-itage. This podcast features Adam (of It’s Just A Show) and Sarah going over classic (and not-so-classic) Canadian horror movies. While they might point out the flaws in these movies, both Sarah and Adam fundamentally approach these films with love. Recommended if you’re a fan of horror films, weird Canadiana, or friends being delighted by the world.
More recently we’ve gone all bookish. First up is Dear Reader, in which Michael (from This Is Your Mixtape) and Emily check in once a month to talk about what they’ve read. It’s a cozy and familiar show, although it’s not afraid to talk about difficult subjects, including times in their lives when they haven’t been up to reading. But mostly it’s like having tea and conversation with some old friends—and picking up some interesting book recommendations from some wide-ranging readers.
We’ve also launched The Spouter-Inn; or, A Conversation with Great Books. Chris (of The Scene Of The Scene) hangs out with his friend Suzanne, who is a literary professor, and together they look at canonical “great books”—although they want to think hard about what “great” even means here. Perhaps you have some fond memories of reading “the classics” back in school, but tackling the Iliad or the Divine Comedy now seems more like work than fun? Then The Spouter-inn is the place for you.
